Our first class will meet at the Training Center for orientation and an introduction to scent & scent detection

This is an introductory class into training your dog to follow a specific person's scent path.

Tracking or Trailing uses your dog's innate desire to use his or her nose to problem solve. We are not going to teach the dog how to scent, but rather build on your dog's drive to get to a person who holds rewards which the dog wants to get access to!

Become a track layer! You'll learn about the amazing ability of dogs to track or trail scent and be able to watch as the dogs and their handler's work a trail. Track laying is simple - you will be given instructions where to go; you'll then walk the route and be available at the trail end to reward the dog for finding you.
We can always use tracklayers for the working teams.

canine requirements for class
Age: all ages
Vaccinations: puppies : minimum 1st vaccination series. 5 months+ current on all vaccinations
Social ability: if your dog has space issues with people or dogs , let me know and we can adjust the training so as to provide a supportive learning environment for all dogs and trainers
Equipment: non-restrictive harness, 10 – 20 foot flat leash (retractable leashes are not allowed)

I’m interested! What do I need?
* photocopy of your dog’s current vaccinations (must present at time of first class)
*dress for current weather conditions & outside training
*sturdy footwear(i.e. boots or hiking shoes)
* 1 cup of soft food chunks ~ 1/2" in size recommended steak/chicken cubes/hot dog coins -
* if your dog is toy motivated -bring his/her favorite toss or tug type toy.
